80°N Club – Svalbard Expeditions Beyond 80° North
2026 is a special year for Men of Sea – it marks our 10th season of expeditions in Svalbard. Since our first voyage in 2017, we have been exploring the waters of Spitsbergen and the High Arctic, sailing aboard the expedition yacht Azimuth to remote places far beyond the usual routes.
To celebrate our tenth season, we have created the 80°N CLUB, bringing together Men of Sea expedition participants who have crossed the 80th parallel north aboard Azimuth.
80°N – an extraordinary place on the Arctic map
80° North is a remarkable geographical boundary. The Arctic Circle lies hundreds of kilometres to the south, as does most of Spitsbergen. From 80°N, only 10 degrees of latitude separate you from the North Pole.
The farther north we sail from Svalbard, the more the world around us changes. Settlements and signs of civilisation disappear. Ahead of the yacht lie the Arctic Ocean, the northern islands of Svalbard and drifting fields of sea ice.
For us, the 80th parallel north is a symbolic gateway to the High Arctic – a remote part of our planet reached by relatively few people, and by even fewer aboard a small expedition yacht.
Sailing beyond 80°N on a Svalbard expedition
Reaching beyond 80° North by yacht during a Svalbard expedition can never be taken for granted. How far north we can sail depends primarily on sea-ice conditions, weather and the state of the Arctic Ocean.
Every season is different, and every expedition writes its own story. This is why the moment when 80°00.000’Nappears on our navigation instruments is so special for our participants.
It is one of those moments that explains why we organise Men of Sea Arctic expeditions – not simply to see the Arctic, but to truly experience it.
80°N CLUB – a community of people connected by the North
The 80°N CLUB was created to bring together people who share this extraordinary experience. They come from different countries, have different professions and different stories, but they have one thing in common – during a Men of Sea Svalbard expedition, they crossed the 80th parallel north aboard Azimuth.
We want the 80°N CLUB to become a small community of people fascinated by the Arctic – a place for memories, connections and meetings between those for whom Svalbard and the Far North have become much more than just another travel destination.
The symbols of this achievement are a commemorative certificate and a specially designed 80°N Club coin, celebrating the crossing of one of the most extraordinary geographical lines on our planet.
The 80°N CLUB is our record of the people who sailed with Men of Sea truly far into the High Arctic.
Beyond 80° North. Beyond the ordinary.
