SAILING TRAINING

Doświadczeni kapitanowie na najbardziej północnej jednostce

Our trips and expeditions are led by very experienced captains. It was one of them who, while sailing near the North Pole, set a new Polish record in sailing north, reaching 84 degrees 17 minutes northern latitude. It is us who, during our expeditions, set new routes in places where there are no maps. It is us who have circumnavigated Svalbard and Spitsbergen many times, sailed in the Nordkapp region in winter, and led hundreds of cruises in the Arctic. We have sailed in ice many times, reaching the front of many glaciers, breaking through ice fields.
This gives us experience and very practical knowledge. Our skippers are professional sailors.
The Azimuth yacht on which most of our expeditions take place has been the most northern sailing vessel for years. It stays another year in the Arctic. It is an expedition vessel richly equipped with various systems for safe and self-sufficient survival in the far North.
This allows the participants of our trips to experience what sailing in the far North is like.
As part of our trips, one can train their skills in many areas of sailing knowledge, including:
– safety procedures
– sailing at polar night (Norway)
– practical application of the rules of the way at sea
– navigational lights at sea (Norway)
– sailing in ice (Svalbard)
– practical knowledge of meteorology
– sailing on uncharted waters (Svalbard Expeditions)
– navigation on tidal waters
– harbour manoeuvring on a 40-tonne steel yacht
– operation of navigational equipment (AIS, radar, Raymarine and Garmin plotters)
– yacht maintenance
– organisation of the cruise and life on an expedition yacht
The participants of our cruises take part in watch duties, applying acquired skills in yacht handling.
After our cruises, we provide those interested with sailing testimonials documenting their gained experience.
